Assignment #1- The Process

I was very proud of myself today. For our first assignment in News Writing and Reporting II, I was told to go find a story within the Ithaca community, not the Ithaca College community.

With the idea of addressing the construction going on along East State Street in the Commons, I went out and asked people what they thought. What made me so happy about this "adventure" was that I was not afraid to talk to anyone. For my summer internship, another intern and I were sent out on several trips to the streets of New York City in search of answers. We were required to ask people how they felt about different issues and then bring our results back to our editors/producers.

I felt like I was back in New York City. The feeling is the same in that one spot along the Commons where there's people sitting, sipping coffee outside, dog-walkers enjoying the short-lived warm breeze and slight hustle and bustle of the traffic alongside. I miss the city already.

Now my only task is to put the story together...
